Donate to Building a Rainbow and help kids write about their lives!
Donate to Building a Rainbow, the Indiana Writers Center’s (IWC) summer learning program, and help kids develop a lifelong love of writing. We hear…”Writing class is my favorite of everything I do at camp!” often and every summer. Our college interns work with IWC instructors to inspire and educate kids at three sites in underserved communities in Indianapolis as part of our Youth Public Memoir Building a Rainbow program.
The Children are in need more than ever.
During the pandemic, our students were underserved by the schools, by the community, and they have suffered loss – loss of family income and the death of family members to Covid. We anticipate our largest group of students we have ever served coming to the sites this summer, and our funds just won’t cover all of their needs.
Our students are in need of food. We would like to provide daily snacks to assist them. It’s hard to write when you are hungry. We need PPE to keep everyone safe. Our students need more writing help and attention. We need to hire two additional interns to help serve our students. Thank you for helping us lift youth voices up!
We need to raise $2500.00 to meet the needs of this year’s Building a Rainbow program.
As of 4/7/2021, we have raised $1000.00 towards our goal. Thank you so much to this year’s donors! We have $1500.00 to go.
